The Spectral 2 Mapping Drone Releases

Brazilian drone maker, Nuvem UAV, has released its Spectral 2 mapping drone with support for a wide range of plug-and-play payloads. The Spectral 2 provides support for MicaSene, FLIR, and its own custom mapping sensors. With the addition of a sensor onboard the Spectral 2, its flight time increases to one hour, with the ability to cover 400 hectares per flight. Also, it has a range of 6 miles and a 14 m/s cruise speed.

The drone has folding arms, which makes it easy to transport and store. Also, it uses a standard connector that allows sensors to be quickly swapped in and out on the one-axis gimbal that ensures the sensor points toward the ground at all times.

At this time, the Spectral 2 is compatible with the MicaSense Rededge MX and

Altum, the DLIR DUO PRO, as well as the company’s own, NVM 24MP RGB sensor.

The case is able to support batteries of up to 3 hours of flight time, which enables the flight to be completely automated from takeoff to landing. It can fly in winds of up to 12 m/s and comes with a redundant autopilot system to ensure it stays in the air and on course. It has a total takeoff weight of 6 ½ lb and uses GPS and GLONASS.

To ensure accuracy of the data and in order to integrate the location data directly into the sensor’s image data, a PPK and RTK module can be added to the drone. And because it also removes the need for ground points, it makes mapping easier, faster, and less expensive.

In order to control the drone, Nuvem UAV has created its NControl system flight control system that makes it possible to create a mission and watch over that mission in real-time, so that the produced data is accurate and of high quality. Furthermore, in order to ensure that the operations are safe and compliant, the drone includes a mobile pre-flight checklist.

Future

Brazilian drone maker, Nuvem UAVs release of its Spectral 2 mapping drone with support for a wide range of plug-and-play payloads, its support for MicaSene, FLIR, and its own custom mapping sensors, with the addition of a sensor onboard, Spectral 2 is impressive. In addition to its many other features, with its flight time increasing to one hour, and the ability to cover 400 hectares per flight, with a range of 6 miles and a 14 m/s cruise speed, this is a welcome addition to the drone market.
