There are good reasons to be confident that the rumors of upcoming drones in 2020 are true.
Two of those new drones are DJI’s Autel Robotics and Power Vision. In addition, there are three more drones to get excited about, such as the DJI Mavic 3 series, Autel Robotics 2 series (the Pro model), and the PowerVision PowerEgg X.
There is little information about the DJI’s upcoming drones in 2020, but the drones from the other two companies are giving us reason to be excited. Both of them have features that are unique:
DJI Mavic 3
The DJI Mavic 3 drone is expected to be an upgrade in the Mavic series. Its folding design closely resembles the Mavic 2 series, although it may be slightly smaller than those models. It only weighs 3.15 pounds, which is about half the size of the Pro, and weighs 40 percent less than its previous model. The anticipation is that it will have a 1-inch vision sensor with the ability to zoom, which is a combination of other drones in the Mavic 2 series. Another improvement some are hoping for is that the vision sensors will be closely aligned with the DJI Mavic 3 and the Skydio 2.
The Mavic 3 has a new controller, which looks to be a little larger and sturdier than the current model, and makes it possible to attach the phone above the controls, instead of below them.
“There are all of the usual controls, including a central switch to flick it between normal, tripod and sport mode, with the latter turning it into more of a racing drone with a faster top speed.”*
Autel Robotics 2 Pro
The Autel Robotics Evo 2 line of drones was released this year. The model many are now anticipating and excited about is the Pro version with a 1-inch sensor, capable of 6K video in full 10-bit glory at 120Mbps and 20MP photos.
Other features coming in this new model are:
- Omnidirectional obstacle avoidance sensors
- Massive flight time of 40 minutes
- Max speed of 72 kph
- Control distance of 9 km.
- 8K 1/2 inch camera
- Dual camera with vision and thermal imaging*
- PowerVision PowerEgg X
The PowerVision PowerEgg X is a very different approach in drone technology, which makes it seem more of an accessory to the camera itself. The name of the drone itself begins with the words “Power Vision,” possibly implying this drone will become appreciated most for the quality of its camera, its photos and videos.
The drone is equipped with a 1/2.8 inch CMOS sensor capable of 12 MP photos, 4K 60 fps video, and slow-motion video at 1080p 120 fps. PowerEgg X is an AI camera with three modes: AI camera mode (the AI name refers to its ability to track objects as well as gesture tracking abilities), and the other two modes are: handheld mode, and drone mode.*
The drone arms are removable and attached via a unique connector. The PowerEgg X with the housing as well as the controller, is also waterproof, so it can land on the water with its pads.*
The future is bright with exciting new drones to meet the various needs and wants of drone enthusiasts!
As we anticipate the soon release of DJI’s Autel Robotics and Power Vision, we also look to the release of the upcoming drones in 2020 — DJI Mavic 3 series, Autel Robotics 2 series (the Pro model), and the PowerVision PowerEgg X in the near future.
